VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY & RESPONSIBILITIES

Name of Event:  Brew, Brats and Bands at the Barn

Event Date:  Saturday, September 9, 2017      

Shift Time:  4:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Location:  Preservation Park – Cady Boyer Barn, 500 N. Ridge Road, Canton MI  48188                                                      

Brief Description of Event:  Craft beer tasting event for the 21 and over crowd at the historic Cady-Boyer Barn in Preservation Park. Proceeds from the event will support the Canton Historical Society. 

Sponsors include Canton Leisure Services, Canton Historical Society, Holiday Market, Liberty Street Brewing Company, Canton Brew Works, Alphagraphics, Edward Jones Investments Downtown Cherry Hill Village, Kennedy Nemier Insurance Agency, Inc., and Beerfest.com.

Type of tasks volunteers will be asked to do:

  • Pour samples of craft beer
  • Assist distributors
  • Work in the kitchen, serving brats
  • Help with clean-up

Attire/Special Instructions:  Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older.  Casual attire and comfortable shoes are a must.

Applications & Information


Volunteer Training


Canton Township volunteers are required to attend training a minimum of one time per year. The training provides volunteers with information about upcoming events, customer service, and emergency preparedness. All registered volunteers will be emailed of upcoming volunteer training dates.

Meals on Wheels and Pheasant Run Golf Club Volunteers


For positions requiring driving, volunteers must submit a Michigan Driving Record Check form, in addition to the Volunteer Application for Adults. Please complete sections 3 and 5.

Scholarship Opportunities


Canton residents who have lived in the Canton community for 2 or more years are eligible to apply for a Canton Leisure Services Scholarship that can be applied towards Leisure Services classes and programs. Recipients can receive up to $400 per family in a year and are required to provide 1 hour of community service for every $20 awarded. For additional information, please email Paula Kosbe.
