Canton’s annual River Day will be held Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Flodin Park, located on Saltz Road at Morton Taylor Road. River day takes place rain or shine and volunteers of all ages including residents, students and scout troops are encouraged to participate. Please note, all volunteers will be asked to wear masks and socially distance themselves during the event.
This year’s activities include; bee house building, nature walks along the Flodin trail, invasive species education and a presentation from the Southeast Michigan Bee Keepers Association on the importance of saving honeybees and why they play a critical role in our ecosystem. A recycling education booth will also be set-up so residents can ask questions about Canton's curbside program. A light lunch will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
Due to COVID, there will be no t-shirts this year and registration MUST be done before the event as there will be no on-site registration. Volunteers can register on-line at https://therouge.org/rouge-rescue/. For up-to-date information on this event, including cancellation notices, follow us at www.facebook.com/CantonMSD.
