27th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition: October 1 - 26, 2019
The Canton Commission for Culture, Arts and Heritage is proud to present the 27th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition to promote art created by Michigan artists. Chosen artists' work will be displayed to the public in October at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road. The goals of this exhibit include bringing quality art to our community and providing highly talented artists with opportunities to present their work in Canton.

Awards
A total of $1,950 in cash will be awarded for:
Best of Show: $750
Second Prize: $500
Third Prize: $300
Honorable Mention (2): $100
Merit Awards (4): $50
The juror will select the award winning entries upon review of the actual works of accepted art prior to the Exhibition.
Juror: Kay Masini
Kay Masini is a full-time artist who paints with various media. She works in different styles to explore new ways of communication through art. Her art vocabulary keeps expanding and, with it, her knowledge and appreciation of unique and different points of view. She has studied styles of Realism and Abstraction and experimented with the different media used in creating arts. She studied at the Chicago Art Institute and at Oxford University in England. Masini holds a Bachelor of Art degree from the Dominican University in Illinois.
A member of national and international art organizations, she has held offices on the boards in Michigan and Minnesota. Her current memberships include (ISEA) the International Society of Experimental Artists (Signature Member): the Three Cities Art Club; Plymouth Community Arts Council; the International Vriendenkring in Belgium (where she was given a solo exhibition). Her work is included in collections in the U.S. and Europe and has earned many awards.
She has designed prize-winning stage sets, book covers, and has published a Christmas booklet of her paintings and poems. Two of her paintings were selected for the first of the Norht Lights book series, "The Best of Acrylic Painting".

-Entries must be received by or postmarked by August 9, 2019 to be considered.
-Entries will be juried from digital CD or USB Drive.
-Complete Entry Form including the Juror Results card section with your name and the name of your submitted pieces. Print the Entry Form below by right clicking on the image below and selecting "Open image in New Tab" and then "CTRL + P" on your keyboard to print OR Click Here to Download a PDF Print your name as clearly as you wish it to appear on the program.
-Mail Entry Form including the Juror Results Card, CD or USB Drive, and entry fee to:

CD Entries/USB Drive
All entries must be digital images. Work submitted on CDs or USB Drives must be in JPEG format. Images shoudl have the title of the artwork precede jpg file: e.g. - sunflowers.jpg. Artist's name should be on the CD or USB Drive. Files must be kept to a maximum of 3 MB. Include a reference sheet with images representing the images on the disk. Next to each image, include the following information: artist name; title of work; media, and dimensions.
CDs WILL NOT BE RETURNED/USB DRIVES WILL BE RETURNED.
Entry Fee
A non-refundable $15 fee must accompany EACH entry. Each piece of art being submitted is considered one entry. Entries not accompanied by the correct total entry fee will not be considered. To determine your total entry fee, simply multiply the number of entries you are submitting by $15. Check must be made payable to "Canton Township" and include Driver's License number.
Eligibility
Participation is open to all artists ages 18+ who live or work in Michigan. Original works in all media can be entered provided they have not been shown previously in the Canton Fine Arts Exhibition. All artwork must be original in concept, design, and execution. No mechanical reproductions after original works in other media (such as giclee, prints) accepted, unless used as part of a mixed media work or collage. Fine Art Photography accepted. Works must have been completed within the last 3 years. Hanging artwork must not exceed: 6 feet in height, 5 feet in width, or 40 lbs. in weight. Works must be properly framed, clean, & wired for hanging. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 5'X5'X6' adn 200 lbs in weight.
Presentation Requirements
Accepted entries must be ready for presentation. Framed works must be clean and ready for hanging with appropriate glass or Plexiglas & hanging wire (No clips, Sawtooth Bars, etc.) Unprepared works cannot be accepted.
Rights and Reproductions
The Canton Fine Arts Exhibition reserves the right to photograph & reproduce all accepted entries, regardless of the copyright, for the sole purpose of publicity.
Sales
A 35% commission will be charged on all sales made during the exhibition. Price accordingly.
Liability
The Canton Fine Arts Exhibition and The Village Theater at Cherry Hill will exercise all reasonable care with your original artwork. However, its members, volunteers or anyone connected with the exhibition will not be responsible for loss or damage. It is suggested that the artist carry their own insurance.
Agreement
Submission of a work to the juror shall constitute an agreement to comply with all conditions set forth in this prospectus. The juror reserves the right to reject any work not accurately represented in submitted image. Decision's of the juror are final. All artists will be notified of the juror's decision. It is the artist's responsibility to deliver works of art to The Village Theater and for the prompt removal of art from The Village Theater within the specified time period.
Artist Registry
We are seeking artists for inclusion in a resource directory for consideration of possible future collaborations. All artistic media will be considered, including visual art, performing arts, and multimedia, such as painting and sculpture. All local artists within 30 miles of Canton are eligible for inclusion and will be considered for future projects.

We will review all publicity materials received and contact you with questions or interest in booking. Canton Township receives a great deal of interest from entertainers, with only a limited amount of opportunities. Please allow a reasonable amount of time to review submitted materials. All information will be kept in our resource files for future consideration.
Canton Concert Band
The Canton Concert Band began in
Rehearsing every Thursday night at 7 pm in the Biltmore Studio at the Village Theater, the Canton Concert Band performs two concerts a year at the theater, and at numerous other functions throughout the community.
Participating in the band has been a great way to meet new friends, as well as pursue their mutual love of music.

Michigan Philharmonic
The Michigan Philharmonic, under the direction of Nan Washburn, offers exciting new opportunities to provide culturally enriching and educational programming in Plymouth, Canton, and surrounding communities. The orchestra plays a full season of concerts from September to May, with several special concerts and events throughout the year.

SOY is open to ALL youth age 5 and above - no experience required.
Join the fun of SOY by auditioning for a show or enrolling in a summer theater camp - SOY "casts" all youth that audition and finds a meaningful role for each youth in the show. Camp - limited enrollment - all are welcome!

Spotlight Players are partnered with The Village Theater at Cherry Hill and Ridge Roads in Canton. Our partnership with the theater provides us with the privilege of rehearsing and performing inside the beautiful state-of-the-art facilities that are as unique as they are luxurious.

TLC Productions
Formed in 2007, TLC Productions was founded by Tim "T" Chanko, Linda "L" Pohl, and Christopher "C" Tremblay. TLC Productions is a resident theater group of The Village Theater at Cherry Hill. The first original work by TLC Productions was Behind the Curtain, which was completed in 2007 and staged in 2008 at The Village Theater. The mission of TLC Productions is to bring original works to the stage. As a Canton-based arts organization, TLC Productions seeks to provide opportunities for aspiring and emerging playwrights. In addition to authoring new works, TLC Productions established the Canton One Acts Festival and StageLab24 at The Village Theater.

Become an Usher!
The Village Theater is committed to providing quality customer service to the organizations who rent the facility and to the patrons who attend the performances.
Our ushers play a key role in providing top customer service. It is essential for all of our ushers to treat every interaction as an opportunity to leave a positive impression of our theater. Ushers are often the only staff interaction for many of our patrons!
As a volunteer usher you will also have the opportunity to meet new people, see shows free of charge during your shift and receive 50% off tickets to most shows the day of a performance. We also engage our ushers in social events such as our annual holiday party.

We are excited to be launching our youth usher program this summer. This is a great opportunity for anyone ages 14-17 to join our team of ushers and learn more about the theater, make new friends, and build customer service skills.
Our 2019 training dates for both youth and adult ushers are:
Sunday, July 14th: Check-in 10am-10:30am, training 10:30am-12pm
Saturday, July 27th: Check-in 10am-10:30am, training 10:30am-12pm
Saturday, September 21st: Check-in 10am-10:30am, training 10:30am-12pm
Sunday, October 6th: Check-in 10am-10:30am, training 10:30am-12pm
Saturday, October 12th: Check-in 10am-10:30am, training 10:30am-12pm
Only one training session per year needs to be attended, but if you would like to brush up on training at any time, you are welcome to attended more! All training sessions will be held at The Village Theater.
