Canton’s Liberty Fest continues its popular tradition of hosting an International Festival during its highly-anticipated summer community event. Join in a celebration of diversity as a variety of cultures from around the world will be showcased on Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the Canton LIVE! Stage in Heritage Park, located in Canton, MI.
Festival-goers are encouraged to stop by the Canton LIVE! Stage on Saturday to enjoy free performances in Heritage Park that communicate across cultural and linguistic barriers from countries across the globe, including: China, India, Italy, Mexico, Tahiti, the United States, New Zealand, as well as cultural offerings, such as African American and Hawaiian/Polynesian.
“Arts lovers look forward to our annual International Festival, which provides a unique opportunity for audience members to experience music and dance from around the globe all in one location,” said Canton Performing Arts Coordinator Joe Kvoriak. “Audience members of all ages will be delighted as the stage comes alive with colorful costuming and exotic instruments when these talented individuals share their heritage and some traditions that date back centuries.”
Groups and performers expected to take the stage, include: Taiji Stream – Yong Style Tai Chi; Canton Summit Dance Team – Xinjiang Dance from North West China; Sunshine Children’s Choir; Hoaloha - Hawaiian, Polynesian, New Zealand, & Tahitian Dance; Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan; “Highland of Tibet” Solo by Michelle Zhang; Belly Dance Soumboula Hanom performed by Fay; Chinese Dance Solo by Kayla Li; Asian Indian Dance; Shihui Dance; Michigan New Century Chinese School Performances; Ann Arbor Jade Dance Studio; Joyas de Mexico Ballet; Yangtze Melody Group; Flag Ministry, Mimes, & Praise Dancers from New Hope Baptist Church of Wayne; Heart Melody Group & Others; Canton Qi Pao Team; Sitar Performance featuring Charvik Vaishnav, a student of Manjula Verma; Ann Arbor Waist Drum Team; Michigan Chinese Folk Dance Group; Inner-Action Dance; Pipa Solo by Angela Bolon; Bollybun Dancers; Little Angels-Yellow River with 99 Curves; Arya Dance Academy; and Spotlight Players.
These great performances, presented by the Canton Commission for Culture, Arts & Heritage’s Multicultural Committee, are suitable for all ages.
Canton Leisure Services is hosting three action-packed days of family fun during Canton’s 27th Annual Liberty Fest, from June 14 – 16, 2018, in beautiful Heritage Park, located adjacent to Canton’s Administration Building, west of Canton Center Road between Cherry Hill Road and Summit Parkway.
