Canton will once again honor area servicemen and servicewomen who have served and who are currently serving in the Armed Forces in a special “Salute to Service” ceremony which will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018, at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located 50400 Cherry Hill Road in Canton, MI.
Doors open for this special community event at 6:00 p.m. for military displays and reception. The mainstage presentation is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
This year’s distinguished keynote speaker is Brigadier General Carol Ann Fausone, who received her commission in 1977 in the United States Air Force as a medical officer after graduating from college. General Fausone served on active duty in various nursing staff positions and transfer in late 1981, to the Michigan Air National Guard. From 2003-2011, she served as the Assistant Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs in the State of Michigan. After 36 years of service, she continues to nationally assist veterans.
Canton’s Salute to Service program will also feature musical tributes sung by the Workman Elementary Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Keri L. Mueller.
In addition to the formal presentation, items for service men and women will be collected by the Michigan Military Moms, including individual size or travel size: disposable hand and foot warmers; foot and body powder; Q-tips; Beef Jerky; hot chocolate mix; wipes; granola/power bars; and monetary donations to offset postage. Please note that all items must be small enough to fit a 12” x 12” x 8” U.S. Priority box.
The public is encouraged to attend this free event – no tickets are required, all ages are welcome to attend.
