[ARCHIVED] Canton’s Village Theater to Display Works By Artist Jeremy Rheault

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is pleased to feature the unique mixed media works of artist Jeremy Rheault, in an exhibit entitled “On To Something”, now on display through January 1, 2019, in the Gallery@VT, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road in Canton, MI, 48187.

Rheault’s paintings, drawings, and collages reflect his creative use of cardboard and other unique surfaces in his contemporary works of art.  Inspired by painter and illustrator Philip Burke’s use of elaborate colors, distortions and exaggerations of famous rockers and celebrities on clean white backgrounds featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, Rheault often integrates cardboard, old artists’ prints, and maps into his works.

“I find the speed that I’m capable of producing these portraits to be quite a creative outlet for me,” stated Jeremy Rheault. “The layers of paint and the texture that the oil pastels leave are all keys to my work.”

Motivated by the current social and cultural awareness of personas or events, Rheault also tries to introduce art history and provoke research and awareness of artists or historical figures past and present with his works. Rheault often incorporates multiple layers and media into each of his works that also allow him to focus on scale and presentation.

Growing up, Rheault attended Plymouth-Canton Schools and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University. This twenty-year art educator, who currently resides in Westland, MI, is now devoting even more time to his passion of creating art. An advocate for other artists, he also enjoys meeting other artists and showing their works. Rheault’s artwork is also currently on display and for sale at Canton’s Spoon’s Place and Plymouth’s Liberty Street Brewing Company’s Liberty Room Gallery.

A special artist’s reception and meet and greet will be held on Wednesday, December 5, from 7-9 p.m. at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, that is free and open to the public.

This current art exhibit at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is also free and open to the public: Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; during public performances at the theater; and by appointment by calling 734/394-5300.  The Gallery is closed on holidays.
