[ARCHIVED] Suspicious situation reported at a bus stop

April 12, 2019, Canton, MI – This morning at approximately 8:40 a.m., a student of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools reported that an unknown male drove by the bus stop near Pointe & Sussex at approximately 8:20 a.m., and asked the kids if they wanted an umbrella or to wait in his vehicle for the bus.  Three students at the bus stop all declined his offer, and the vehicle drove away. The students described the subject as an elderly white male, driving a light green minivan.

Officers canvassed the area and were able to make contact with an elderly male who they believe may have been the subject involved. Police are continuing their investigation, but at this time consider the interaction to be of a non-criminal intent.

Police and school officials encourage parents to use this as an opportunity to discuss general safety and “stranger danger” with your children, reminding them to report any suspicious activity immediately.

Anyone with additional information on this morning’s incident is encouraged to contact the Canton Police Department at 734/394-5400.
