Suspect arrested and charged with theft from vehicles

Update - Suspect charged

December 9, 2019 – Canton, MI – This weekend, suspect Kevin William Chenevare-Lowery, Jr., age 19, from Ypsilanti, was arraigned on three charges related to the below incident on December 6.  Charges include:

1)  Receiving & Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle; a 5-Year Felony

2)  Larceny less than $200; a 93-Day Misdemeanor

3)  Larceny less than $200; a 93-Day Misdemeanor

Chenevare-Lower, Jr.’s bond was set at $1,000, 10%, with a GPS tether.  His next scheduled court appearance will be in 35th District Court on December 20, 2019.


Original - Man arrested for breaking-in to parked vehicles 

December 6, 2019, Canton, MI – Last night, Canton police officers arrested a 20-year old male suspected of breaking-in to parked vehicles.  Police have been investigating the recent increase of thefts from vehicles in the Geddes & Beck Road area, and were contacted by a resident who observed suspicious behavior on their exterior home security cameras.  Officers searched the area, with the assistance of a K-9 team from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, which led to the arrest of one male subject.  During the investigation, police officers also located a stolen vehicle parked in the area.  

The subject is currently being held in police custody pending case review by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.  The Canton Police Department thanks the resident for being alert and calling in the suspicious tip, and encourages anyone who observes suspicious activity on their home security systems to do the same.
