Police Officers participate in Anti-Defamation League training

November 22, 2022, Canton, MI – Last week, the Canton Police Department held an internal training session for its officers on the topic of hate crimes and violent extremism, presented by the Anti-Defamation League.  The training was facilitated by Sean McGill, who has an extensive background in law enforcement training with regard to managing implicit bias.  Canton’s training focused on the legal framework behind hate crimes and extremism, statistics, enhancing officer’s skills in investigations and documentation, recognizing indicators and the motivation behind offenders.

“The Canton Police Department is committed to providing proactive training to its officers, giving them the context needed to police the community in today’s environment.  We will continue to find opportunities of enrichment as we look to advance our policing capabilities,” said Chad Baugh, Director of Police Services.
