May 15, 2015, Canton, MI – The Canton Fire Department welcomes its newest firefighter/paramedics, Gregory Derby and Samuel Wieland, to the department. Derby and Wieland took their Oaths of Office on May 11, 2015, administered by Canton Township Clerk Terry Bennett.
All new firefighter/paramedics in Canton are required to successfully complete three months of mentored orientation and training prior to becoming manpower on an assigned shift. New firefighters are on probation for one-year while they complete an extensive training program, maximizing their potential and providing them with the tools necessary to succeed in their new position as a Canton firefighter/paramedic.
