While power restoration work continues in the area, the American Red Cross has opened two shelter locations that will accommodate Canton residents impacted by the recent severe wind storm. Any individual without power or shelter due to the storm may stop in for temporary relief or overnight lodging.
Participating temporary shelter locations include the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center’s Hubbard Ballroom, located at 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126, as well as Dearborn Public Schools McCollough-Unis Middle School, located at 7801 Maple Street, Dearborn, MI 48126. No advance registration is required. Individuals in need of relief may report to either of these locations for overnight accommodations on Thursday, March 9, 2017. For residents seeking a temporary warming center during daytime hours, Canton Township has opened a warming center at the Summit on the Park community recreation center, located at 46000 Summit Parkway, Canton, MI 48188. The warming center will remain open through the weekend during regular business hours: Monday – Friday, 5:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Saturday, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Warming Center visitors are asked to please sign in at the Summit Front Desk. The Canton Public Library, located at 1200 S.
