National Senior Citizens Day

Did you know that August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day? Canton Club 55+ doesn’t need a special day to celebrate all of our wonderful participants who are ages 55 and older. We are grateful for our Club 55+ participants and are proud to be able to provide year-round quality programing that help keep our members engaged with their community, as well as with their peers emotionally, physically, and mentally. Enjoy this special excerpt from NationalToday.com to learn about this national recognition. 

National Senior Center Day is held annually on August 21, as a special day to let seniors know how much they are cared for, as well as to recognize their accomplishments. Today, seniors are still active in their communities as well as continuing to have a strong presence in the workforce. 

National Senior Citizens Day recognizes seniors who have spent their lives contributing  to society and have impacted everyone’s lives for the better. Improved healthcare has  changed demographics and increased productivity of older citizens, allowing them to be  more active than ever before.  With more opportunities available as well, many senior
citizens now begin second careers and are an example for younger generations. The country’s foundation and stable sectors are the result of the hard work of our senior  citizens and they deserve all our gratitude.

For all they do and have achieved for the good of their communities, senior citizens deserve our thanks. Thank you, seniors, for enriching all of our lives with your wit and wisdom!

Make & Take Crafts

DIY Drink Covers/Coasters

Wednesday, August 25,  1:00 p.m.
These drink covers/coasters are the perfect party favor, gift idea, or all-around great item just to have on hand for fun summer get-togethers. Plus, they are super handy to have at outdoor parties, picnics, out on the lake and or even while camping. Register by August 19th. Kits will be available for pick up on August 20th. Please Note: if participants are making this craft at home, an iron is needed.

Wii Bowling - Virtual League

Beginning the week of August 1 (6 weeks)
Participate in some friendly competition from the comfort of your own home, or in person at Club 55+, during designated times. No team bowling is available at this time, so everyone must submit their scores as individuals. Register by August 4 online or by calling 734/394-5485.

Adult Tennis - FALL Pricing

Now thru October, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Looking to play tennis with others? Club 55+ reserves time at two local tennis courts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for our recreation tennis program. If all courts are full, players are rotated in. Participants are responsible for bringing their own racquets.

Club 55+ Annual Golf Outing

Thursday, September 23, 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Don't miss the Annual Co-Ed Golf Outing at Fellows Creek Golf Club, located at 2936 S. Lotz Road in Canton. Join us for 18 rounds of golf, various competitions, lunch, and an awards ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams for the Men's, Co-Ed and Women's categories. Participants may sign up as a team (foursome), threesome, pair or individual.
