While the Lights Were Out By Jack Sharkey Spotlight Players

American playwright Jack Sharkey certainly knows how to twist an old-fashioned murder mystery into an outrageously funny comedy. His silly thriller While the Lights Were Out has all the requisite trappings of a whodunit. British accents, watercress sandwiches and characters with names such as Lord and Lady Wickenham fill up the stage. The play starts with a dinner party set in Bermuda. The guests include a myriad of characters, mostly bumbling members of the aristocracy. Things are moving along swimmingly when suddenly the lights go out and a shot is fired. The lights come back on to reveal a lovely blond dressed in naughty black lace standing over a body, holding a knife dripping in blood. But wait, don't jump to any conclusions. When the constable examines the corpse, he announces the poor guy's been strangled. And that's just the beginning of this silly, twisty murder mystery.

The Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Canton Community Production
Date & Times 11/9/23 @ 7:00 PM
Retired from a radio and television play-by-play career that spanned 26 years and more than 1,500 broadcasts in the National Hockey League and professional baseball, Mike Forne’s musical interests now blend the woods, the water and the wildlife with the North Country music you’ll hear in his shows.
His portrayal of Gordon Lightfoot is simply an honest effort to entertain with an accurate representation of a Lightfoot concert. Mike plays the role of “Gord” in first person, yet avoids saying “I” or “me” in his storytelling of the songs and the circumstances of how they were written. His tireless research and personal interaction with Lightfoot have lead to accurate mannerisms, speaking patterns, clothing, and of course identical guitars used by the Canadian icon on stage. Rarely does he break character, usually only to introduce the band or give a personal message before the conclusion of the show.
If you have read Mike’s newspaper work, heard him on the radio, seen him on TV or read any of the five books he has written about Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge, Grand Hotel, or the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Mackinaw, his love of the Straits of Mackinac area is clear. On stage, he demonstrates his love of a genre of timeless music that captured millions during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. His catalogue of Gord’s music includes 77 songs that he chooses from in concert.
KAVAN, the World’s #1 Rock-n-Roll Elvis returns to the Village Theatre after his sold-out show in 2022. Presenting “4 Shades of Elvis”, KAVAN will cover Elvis’s early years, the movie years, the ’68 Comeback and Aloha from Hawaii. KAVAN is backed by the Memphis Flash Band, including a 3-piece horn section.
KAVAN has starred as Elvis Presley in multiple productions of the Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical "Million Dollar Quartet." He has won multiple Elvis tribute competitions and performed all over the United States and Canada. KAVAN appeared on the BBC's "The World Greatest Elvis" television competition and won the title of "The World's #1 Rock N Roll Elvis."
