Trick or Treat Parade

 So much is happening in Canton this fall! Check out some of the exciting events coming up in the month of October!

Halloween Trick or Treat Parade

Get your tickets before they're gone!  Canton's Trick or Treat Parade returns to the Summit on the Park on Friday, October 28 from 4 -7 p.m. Children ages 10 and younger are encouraged to attend in costume and follow the spooktacular path from room to room, each filled with special surprises and little goodies. 

The parade features a not-so-scary walk along our trick or treat path that ends with an optional scary Haunted House, which may not be suitable for younger children.  Parents are responsible for the direct supervision of their children during this special event. Tickets will only be sold in advance of the event and are on sale now for $5 per child for Summit members and $6 for Canton residents. From October 15-27, Non-Resident tickets will be available for $10 per child.  A limited amount of tickets for designated timeslots will be available for purchase beginning October 1 at the Summit Front Desk, while supplies last. Please note that all ticket sales will end October 27 at 10 p.m. Kids of all ages planning to trick or treat and collect goodies during the event must have a ticket/collection bag. For additional information about this event, call 734/394-5460.

Freedom Park Pickleball Courts

Pickleball Play Day Coming Soon

All ages are encouraged to try one of the fastest growing games in the nation at Canton’s free Pickleball Play Day, which will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 12-2 p.m. at Freedom Park, located at Sheldon an Palmer Roads. Participants can take part in mini-clinics; equipment and instruction will be provided.  Although day of walk-ons are welcome, registration is encouraged by emailing cott@canton-mi.orgFor additional information, contact the Canton Sports Center at 483-5600 or visit csc.canton-mi.org.

Farmers Market Fall Offerings

Fall has officially arrived at the Canton Farmers Market! October 16th brings the last Market of the season and some special Harvest-themed fun for families. A professional pumpkin-carver will demonstrate his talents on site. A petting zoo and new bouncer will keep little visitors busy. The first 50 children that check-in at the Market Kids tent will receive a free pumpkin.  The Master Gardener Volunteers will also host a perennial exchange at their Market booth through October 9. Visit the Market every Sunday through October 16 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., rain or shine, at Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road.

Flu Shots

Canton Leisure Services will be opening its Flu Shot Clinic to adults 18 years of age and older on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. The Clinic will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., in the Chestnut Room at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI.

This is a single day event and appointments are required. This Flu Clinic will accept most forms of insurance and the flu shot will be offered at no direct cost. Please bring your Medicare and/or insurance cards with you to ensure that services are billed correctly to your provider. Patients may also pay independently.
Patients who do not have access to health insurance may receive the following services at the following cost: Pneumonia Shots - $95; Flu Shots - $33.This amount will be due prior to receiving the flu shot. Costs will be billed back to health coverage providers, including Medicare if applicable.

Canton Club 55+ To Celebrate Halloween

Canton Club 55+ will be holding a special Halloween celebration on Friday, October 28 from 10:30 a.m – 12 p.m. (Noon), in the Parkview Room at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI.
Stop by to participate in Halloween Bingo starting at 10:30 a.m. and treat decorating at 11:00 a.m.  In addition, Halloween-themed treats will be available, courtesy of Regency of Canton.  Register online or by calling 734/394-5485. 

Canton Chamber Consumer Expo

The Canton Chamber of Commerce will host a Consumer Expo on Thursday, October 20, from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Summit on the Park. The expo features over 60 businesses, including 10 restaurants that display their items and services. The expo gives participants the opportunity to let Canton area businesses and residents know about their goods and services. The expo is free and open to the public. Seniors Safe, Sound and Secure Seminar

All Canton seniors are invited to learn more about personal safety on November 2 from 12-3 p.m. at the Summit on the Park.  Presented by Canton Public Safety, this free informative seminar will help you learn new techniques to keep you and your family safe. This event is sponsored by Canton Public Safety and will also feature fire safety information.  Lunch will be provided by Katherine’s Catering at the Summit.  Registration is required to participate. Pheasant Run Fall Rates

Golf is in full swing at Pheasant Run Golf Club and fall rates are now in effect.  Enjoy 18 holes Monday through Friday for $36 per person with a cart and on Saturday and Sunday for $45.  Senior rates Monday through Friday are $28. Socktober Sock Drive Underway

The Canton community is encouraged to participate in this nationwide campaign, “Socktober,” started by www.soulpancake.com with support from internet sensation Kid President, also known as 10-year-old Robby Novak. Established in 2013, Socktober campaigns are currently being held in every state and have even expanded around the globe to collect socks for the homeless. Show you care and donate a NEW pair now through October 31 at the Summit on the Park lobby.  To learn more about the Canton Leisure Services “Socktober” project or to donate new men’s, women’s, and children’s socks, please call 734/394-5460.

2016 Canton Fine Arts Exhibition Best of Show by Janet Kondziela,  Oil Painting,  "Peter #4"

Canton Fine Arts Exhibition 

The 24th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is now on display at the Gallery@VT through October 29, bringing together works of some of the best artists from throughout southeastern Michigan.  The exhibit contains works in a variety of media, including:  paintings, sculptures; mixed media; charcoal drawings; pastels, ceramics; and photography.  This year's Best of Show by Janet Kondziela, is an Oil Painting entitled:  "Peter #4," is pictured left. 

Early Bird Turkey Trot Registration!

Save $5 with Early Bird registration available through October 10. All runners registered by November 8 will receive a T-shirt. This annual fun run in Canton on Thankgiving Day, (Nov. 24) benefits the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The 5K chip timed run and walk has become a popular family tradition.
