Camp & Class Registration Day

 Are you looking for unique ways for your kids to remain active, engaged and have fun this summer - all without their electronic games and devices? Then Canton's Camp & Class Registration Day Event at the Summit on the Park is the perfect place to come and see what Canton Leisure Services has to offer. Several representatives from our traditional summer camps, weekly camps, and summer programs will be available to answer all of your questions. Canton Farmers Market

Canton Winter Famers Market - March 19

Our next Winter Farmers Market will be held on Sunday, March 19 in the Summit on the Park's Banquet Center lobby, located at 46000 Summit Parkway.  Market hours will take place from 10am - 2pm. A variety of local vendors will be onsite offering a wide assortment of Michigan-grown and made products, including: honey, produce, baked goods, jams, spices, granola, and hand-crafted items. Be sure to mark your calendars, because the last Winter Market of the season will be held at the Summit on the Park on Sunday, April 23.

Calling area seniors ages 55 and up!   The Canton Farmers Market encourages local seniors to take advantage of our Healthy Food Connect: Canton program to learn about nutritious, fresh local foods available at our Farmers Market. Interested seniors may schedule an orientation with the market staff to receive a one-on-one tour of the Farmers Market and information about the food assistance programs currently accepted at the markets. The first 300 Healthy Food Connect participants to attend a scheduled orientation will receive $5 in Market Bucks to purchase eligible food products at the market.  Monthly drawings for prizes will also be held for those who attend the market, so be sure to check in with the market staff each time you attend! FREE Parenting Workshop

Canton Leisure Services is teaming up with First Step to present a FREE Parenting Workshop at the Summit on the Park.  Come learn important tips that will help keep your teen safe in these challenging modern times.  Topics will include: technology updates, dating abuse and how to create a teen safety plan. Indoor Triathlon

March 19 at 7am
Looking for a reason to keep up your training indoors?  Enjoy competing in our 3rd Annual Conquer the Summit Indoor Triathlon!  Participants will complete a 10-minute swim, 30-minute bike, and a 20-minute run with 10-minute transition times between each event. Chinese Spring Festival Dancers

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill March Update

There's plenty of family-friend performances schedule at Canton's Village Theater this month!  Don't miss Canton’s Chinese Spring Festival, which will begin at 7 p.m. at The Village Theater on Saturday, March 11. This festival features classical, traditional, folk, and modern dances and performances with Chinese instruments.  Audience members will also enjoy vocal presentations by the area’s finest choirs under the direction of Ms. Shuping Ma, who has performed at the Detroit Opera House and throughout the U.S. and China.  Tickets are $5 per person.
The Village Theater will host the Detroit All Star Bands Showcase on March 25 at 7 p.m.  An eclectic mix of Pop, Rock, Funk, Motown performed by the best bands in and around the Motor City. Special appearances will include Dueling Pianos International and Speed Painter Dave Santia. This is a once in a lifetime experience of 6 of the most notable attractions in the Detroit Area; Skyline and the Backstreet Horns – Detroit’s Classiest Showband. Parallel Fifth – An ultimate review of 1980s classic Pop and Rock hits and MORE!  Tickets are $15 per person. Village Theater Call for Artists

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is now accepting proposals for our 2018 Galley@VT exhibition season. The deadline for submissions is April 12, 2017.  All artistic mediums will be considered. The Village Theater's exhibition committee,  which is comprised of local artists and art educators, will make the final decisions regarding the 2018 exhibition season. The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is a premier performing arts center in Southeast Michigan. On average, 5,000 individuals visit the theater each month. Easter Egg-citement!

Join us for a special fun-filled Easter event on Saturday, April 1 at Heritage Park and the Summit on the Park, when Canton's annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.  On-site registration will be available for $3 per child for Canton Residents and $4 per child for Non-Residents.  Continuous egg hunts will be held for children up to 11 years of age in an effort to help keep the “hunting” fair for even our littlest participants. Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues

Greater Canton Youth Baseball and Softball Association (GCYBSA) is currently accepting registration for its Spring 2017 season now through March 15, 2017, for girls and boys ages 4-18. Programs include: Small Ball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Kid Pitch, and Girls Softball. Mom to Mom Sale

April 22 from 9am-12:30pm
Looking for a few good deals on gently-used children's clothing, furniture, and toys?  Look no further!  The Summit on the Park will once again be hosting a Mom to Mom Sale in the gymnasium on Saturday, April 22.  Check out all the "new-to-you" items available! Admission is $2 (8-9am), $1 (after 9am).  Interested in selling old toys and outgrown clothes?  Booths are still available for rent.  Choose either a 9'x6' booth for $20 or a 10'x10' booth for $25.  Email Julie Allen for additional information.

Spring is closing in and with the melting snow comes muddy conditions.  Keep an extra towel on hand to help with wiping down your four-legged family member and be sure to use extra precaution when maneuvering through muddy pathways.  In addition, please be sure to renew your Dog Park Membership by April 1 to avoid key fob interruption.  If you haven’t done so already, check out our Dog Park Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cantonmidogpark.

Golf Update

Dust off your clubs because golf season is right around the corner!  Come visit Pheasant Run Golf Club at the Michigan Golf Show in Novi on Friday, March 10 – Sunday, March 12. Stop in for great deals on clothing and apparel, as well as show specials on golf. There will also be hourly drawings for free golf, so don’t miss it. Not long after that, Pheasant Run will open for the season. So get ready for some spring golf at discounted rates. See you, hopefully, on the links later this month!
