#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday, November 28, 2017, following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and tax-deductible, end-of-year giving. This year, Canton Leisure Services will again be participating in this initiative to benefit youth in this community. Area residents are invited to support this giving campaign by donating to one, or all of these programs positively impacting local kids:

  • Lead #LikeAGirl Scholarship Fund – A leadership program hosted by The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center that aims to empower at-risk young women, ages 11-16, to rethink what it means to lead and live #LikeAGirl. This scholarship fund helps provide college scholarships for graduated participants.
  • Canton Youth Advisory Council Fund – This fund supports an influential group of high school students who truly make a difference in their community. Members participate in community service projects, lead special events, and participate in local decision making in the Canton community. The fund allows youth members to annually grant money to organizations that benefit Canton youth.
  • Camp A.B.L.E. Fund – This fund provides an award-winning adaptive, summer camp experience for children with special needs between the ages of 8-15. Campers are able to participate in traditional camp activities modified to best meet their needs.
