So much is happening in Canton this fall! Check out some of the exciting events coming up for October!

Flu Shots

Canton Leisure Services will be opening its Flu Shot Clinic to adults 18 years of age and older on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. The Clinic will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., in the Chestnut Room at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI.

This is a single day event and appointments are required. This Flu Clinic will accept most forms of insurance and the flu shot will be offered at no direct cost. Please bring your Medicare and/or insurance cards with you to ensure that services are billed correctly to your provider. Patients may also pay independently.
Patients who do not have access to health insurance may receive the following services at the following cost: Pneumonia Shots - $95; Flu Shots - $33; Flu Mist - $35.This amount will be due prior to receiving the flu shot. Costs will be billed back to health coverage providers, including Medicare if applicable.

Canton Club 55+ To Celebrate Oktoberfest

Canton Club 55+ will be holding its second annual Oktoberfest on Tuesday, October 20 from 12 – 2 p.m., in the Maple/Oak Room at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI.
Adults are invited to celebrate the afternoon in true Oktoberfest style. Enjoy grilled bratwursts, pepper/onions, sauerkraut, chips, pickles and delicious apple cider accompanied by wonderful entertainment.
Reservations for this event are required by Thursday, October 15, and can be made in person at Summit on the Park front desk; or online at www.cantonfun.org.  Registration fees are $8 for Canton Residents and $13 for Non-Residents. Please note that there will be no refunds after October 15, 2015.

Consumer Expo

The Canton Chamber of Commerce will host a Consumer Expo on Thursday, October 22, from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Summit on the Park. The expo features over 60 businesses, including 10 restaurants that display their items and services. The expo gives participants the opportunity to let Canton area businesses and residents know about their goods and services. The expo is free and open to the public. Early Bird Turkey Trot Registration!

Save $5 with Early Bird registration available through October 19. All runners registered by November 9 will receive a T-shirt. This annual fun run in Canton on Thankgiving Day ( Nov. 26) benefits the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The 5K chip timed run and walk has become a popular family tradition. The course begins at the Summit and winds through Pheasant Run Golf Course and Heritage Park. Leisure Services Master Plan Focus Group

Canton residents are invited to provide input in at a focus group that will be held this month as a key part of the strategic process of updating Canton Leisure Services Five Year Master Plan.  Members of the community are invited to submit comments on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway, Canton, MI. 
Stop by any time during this event in the Walnut Room and give your input to help shape Canton’s future.  Attendees can give verbal or written comments, participate in discussions and submit ideas that will be used to help plan future capital projects, recreation programs and special community events. Trick or Treat Parade

Halloween Trick or Treat Parade

Get your tickets!  The Trick or Treat Parade is coming Friday, October 30 from 4 -7 p.m. Children ages 10 and younger are encouraged to attend in costume and follow the spooktacular path from room to room, each filled with special surprises and little goodies. Two “path” options will be available featuring a “friendly” or “scary” choice. Parents are responsible for the direct supervision of their children during this special event.

Tickets will only be sold in advance of the event starting October 1 for Summit members ($5 per child) and Canton residents ($6 per child). From October 15-29, non-resident tickets will be available for $10 per child. A limited amount of tickets for designated timeslots will be available for purchase beginning October 1 at the Summit Front Desk, while supplies last. Please note that all ticket sales will end October 29 at 10 p.m. Kids of all ages planning to trick or treat and collect goodies during the event must have a ticket/collection bag.

Socktober Sock Drive Underway

The Canton community is encouraged to participate in this nationwide campaign, “Socktober,” started by www.soulpancake.com with support from internet sensation Kid President, also known as 10-year-old Robby Novak. Established in 2013, Socktober campaigns are currently being held in every state and have even expanded around the globe to collect socks for the homeless. Show you care and donate a new pair now through November 22 at the Summit on the Park lobby.  To learn more about the Canton Leisure Services “Socktober” project or to donate new men’s, women’s, and children’s socks, please call 734/394-5460.

Harvest Market

Harvest Market moves to the Summit on the Park

Plan a trip to Canton’s 5th annual Harvest Market on Sunday, November 22 at its new location and time! This year’s Harvest Market will be located in the Summit on the Park Banquet Lobby from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Pick up food for your Thanksgiving table and stock up on all your Market favorites! Griffin Park Tennis Court Update

Starting Monday, October 19, 2015, the tennis courts in Griffin Park, located on Sheldon Road between Cherry Hill and Saltz Road, will be closed for renovation and will reopen in spring 2016. Tennis courts are currently available for the remainder of the season at Flodin Park, located on Saltz Road between Morton Taylor and Sheldon Road.  For more information, contact the Canton Park Office at 734/394-5310. 

Summit Parking Lot Construction

The Summit on the Park's east parking lot will be closed for approximately three weeks for resurfacing starting on Wednesday, September 30th. No public access will be available to this lot; access will be reserved for service, contractor and delivery vehicles. Parking will be available in the Summit's west parking lot, and Canton Administration parking lot.  For more information, contact Canton Park Office at 734/394-5310.


Pheasant Run Fall Rates

Golf is still in full swing at Pheasant Run Golf Club and fall rates are now in effect. Enjoy 18 holes Monday - Friday for $38 and on Saturday and Sunday for $48.
