A Priority Message for Canton Park Visitors

Michigan's tick population is reportedly on the rise and the Canton Park Office is warning park guests that there have been several reported cases of ticks found on individuals who visited Patriot Park, located at Ridge Road north of Ford Road in Canton. Visitors are encouraged to exercise caution when hiking or taking part in other outdoor activities and implement the following strategies for preventing tick encounters:

  • Avoid wooded and bushy areas with high grass and leaf litter.
  • Stay in open spaces or trails when walking in the woods.
  • Wear long pants, long sleeves, and long socks if walking through wooded areas.
  • Light colored clothing may make ticks easier to spot.
  • Check your full body and head for ticks after being outdoors.
  • After time in wooded areas, shower to remove ticks before they become attached.
  • Remember to examine children and household pets for ticks after they have been outside.
