Turkey Trot

So much is happening in Canton this fall! Check out some of the exciting events coming up for November!

13th Annual Turkey Trot

 This annual fun run in Canton on Thanksgiving Day (November 26) benefits Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The 5K chip timed run and walk has become a popular family tradition.

The course begins at the Summit and winds through Pheasant Run Golf Course and Heritage Park. All runners registered by Monday, November 9 will receive a T-shirt. Register online at https://goo.gl/wRWgMu. For more information, call Canton Sports Center at 734/483-5600.


Tree Lighting

Canton's Annual Tree Lighting Event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Join us December 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. for an evening of holiday fun. Starting off the night, we will welcome Santa all the way from the North Pole to light our tree outside the Summit on the Park. Inside we have performances from Dancing Feet, Spotlight on Youth, and more. Joining Santa this year will be Frosty the Snowman, a Winter Marketplace, Cookie decorating, holiday games and so much more.  Be sure to bring your wallet and pick up some unique gifts and great stocking stuffers at our Winter Marketplace. What a great way to kick off the holiday season!

Tickets for sale at the door. $3 per child for residents. $4 per child for non-residents. 



Letters to Santa 

Canton Leisure Services has made special arrangements with our friends at the North Pole and the US Post Office to deliver your wish list to Santa.  To mail your letter to Santa, please drop it in our North Pole Express Mailbox in the Summit on the Park lobby November 2-30.  Santa asks that your print your name and address clearly so he may directly reply to your letter.  Canton Residents only please.

Breakfast with Santa

Bring the family to a wonderful breakfast with Santa on December 5 from 9-11 a.m. at the Summit on the Park Ballroom! During breakfast, kids can share their wish list with Santa, create a craft, and enjoy a Christmas story time.  All children will receive a holiday souvenier, crayons, and placemat.  Online registration is not available.

Ticket sales start November 3 - December 1 and must be purchased in advance at the Summit on the Park. Ticket prices: 3 yrs. and under $4R/$5NR, 4-12 yrs. $15R/$18NR, 13+ $19R/$23NR.

Fall Fashion Fundraiser
Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Michigan

To help us all stay in style this fall, the Summit on the Park is hosting “Catwalk for a Cause” fashion show on Saturday, November 14, starting at 10 a.m. Proceeds from this special luncheon fundraiser will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Michigan. Models will show off fashions provided by the Clothing Cove of Milford. A delicious lunch will be served including: Chicken Nicoise Salad, Apple Butternut Squash Soup, and finger pastries. Plus, all fashions on display will be available for purchase after the show. This years sponsors include: The Clothing Cove of Milford, Comfort Keepers, Canton Leisure Services, and Canton Club 55+. Tickets for this fundraiser are $40 and are available online at www.cantonfun.org. Socktober Sock Drive Underway

The Canton community is encouraged to participate in this nationwide campaign, “Socktober,” started by www.soulpancake.com with support from internet sensation Kid President, also known as 10-year-old Robby Novak. Established in 2013, Socktober campaigns are currently being held in every state and have even expanded around the globe to collect socks for the homeless. Plan a trip to Canton’s 5th annual Harvest Market on Sunday, November 22 at its new location and time! This year’s Harvest Market will be located in the Summit on the Park Banquet Lobby from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Pick up food for your Thanksgiving table and stock up on all your Market favorites! Canton Salutes Area Service Men and Women

On Wednesday, November 11, Canton will continue its tradition of honoring area servicemen and women during our “Salute to Service” event at The Village Theater. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. Additionally, items for service men and women will be collected for the Michigan Military Moms, including: disposable hand and foot warmers; foot and body powder; Q-tips; Beef Jerky; hot chocolate mix; wipes; granola/power bars; and monetary donations to offset postage. Please note that all items must be small enough to fit a 12” x 12” x 8” U.S. Priority box.  For more information, call 734/394-5460.

International Festival Celebrates Cultural Diversity

Experience music, dance, and drama from around the world when Canton’s International Festival returns to The Village Theater at Cherry Hill on Saturday, November 21. This cultural and educational festival, held from 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., offers participants entertainment and experiences celebrating diverse customs and traditions on The Village Theater’s main stage, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road. Countries represented this year, include: China, India, Ireland, Venezuela, Mexico, New Zealand, Polynesia, Tahiti, and the United States. Numerous cultural exhibits will be featured in our lobby and cultural items will be available for purchase during the event. Bring the whole family and travel the globe through music, dance and more! November is going to be a great fun-filled month at Fellows Creek Golf Club. Canton Goodfellows - No Child Without A Christmas

The Canton Goodfellows and Canton Leisure Services are teaming up to help brighten the holidays for Canton’s neediest children, and you can help in a number of ways:
 
Purchase a ticket for the Canton Goodfellows Magic and Comedy Show at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 13 at the Village Theater. Tickets are on sale for $25 per person and include Hors d’oeuvres.
